How to Clean Wet Wall Panels - WPW™

So, you've installed your wet wall panels and now you want to learn how to maintain them? Not a problem. In this article we’re covering the dos and don’ts of cleaning wet wall panels, and some steps to maintain them.

What Cleaning Agents Can You Use on PVC Wall Panels?

The easiest cleaning agent to use is simply... soap. A soapy water mixture works great on PVC wall panels and should remove any grime.

You can also use vinegar, which most people have around the home. Pour some vinegar into a spray bottle and dilute it with water in a 1:3 ratio for easy application. If left lingering for too long, vinegar has the potential to damage wet wall panels, so be sure to fully wipe it off.

Some brands make PVC wall cleaner formulations that are specifically for these types of panels. PVC wet wall panels are very stain resistant and easy to clean; you don’t need to use abrasive chemicals to do the job.

With that in mind, let’s cover the cleaning agents you shouldn’t use on your wall panels for proper maintenance.

What Cleaning Agents Can’t You Use on Wall Panels?

Harsh chemicals like bleach are a no-go for your wall panels. There is no reason to use harsh chemicals when there are better options available.

Don’t use rough scouring brushes or Brillo pads to clean your walls. You can damage the PVC coating of your wall panels if you use overly harsh methods to clean them, hindering the effectiveness of the waterproofing.

If you are struggling with stains on your PVC panels, using a specially-formulated cleaner for PVC walls can help remove them.

Steps for Cleaning Wall Panels

  1. Choose your preferred cleaner, be it vinegar, PVC cleaner, or soap, and spray it on the panels.
  2. Use a soft sponge or a microfiber towel to wipe your walls down; a circular motion helps distribute your cleaner evenly across the panel.
  3. Rinse the panels with more warm water to remove any excess cleaning product.
  4. Wipe the walls down a final time with a cloth or sponge to dry them off.

Ensure your bathroom or shower room is well-ventilated to air out the space and help the panels dry off quicker. Doing this once a week will keep your bathroom or shower panels wonderfully clean for years to come. If you’re considering wall panels for your bathroom, we provide a 10 year warranty as long as you maintain them!
